Computer maintenance for non-technical people

This is a technical support and information site for non-technical people using Desktop PC's, Laptops, Notebooks and any other computer with Microsoft Windows.

SpringCleanPC makes it easy to learn how to trouble-shoot, fix and clean a computer by yourself.  Learn step-by-step how to maintain and secure your computer to keep it working smoothly and securely.  Use an online problem solver to identify the cause of your computer troubles.

There is a brilliant easy to follow
step-by-step DIY guide to explain how you can service, clean and secure your Windows computer.  There are 28 clearly described stages with graphic examples.  All written using uncomplicated clear English.  Even if you are technophobic (fearful of technology and computers) you will find the maintenance procedure easy to understand.

There is a
downloads page where you can quickly obtain all software and utilites needed by our DIY procedure.  Some of the best Windows cleaning tools, anti-virus and anti-malware tools, and links to recommeded Internet Security products.   All third party software used by the 28 cleaning steps has been thoroughly tried and tested.  Easy to read technology articles exist to help people learn and understand the world of Windows Computing and the Internet.

Honest, unbiased
reviews of computer technology products and services, along with information about Internet scams and precautions you can take to avoid them.

Visitors can subscribe to a
free monthly newsletter to receive reviews, articles, scam alerts, virus alerts, Windows tips and Internet safety information.  The newsletter includes notifications of improvements to the step-by-step maintenance guide and keeps you informed of emerging "must have" Windows tools and utilities.

Find great tips and advice on computer protection, security and maintenance. Discover useful time saving tips to accomplish essential tasks which are often confusing for non technical computer users.

This website is uniquely fresh and friendly compared to other Windows technology sites.  For example, there's a relevant poem at the bottom of some pages to help take your mind off computer problems.  If you have a poem about computers or related technology and would like it published on this site
e-mail the webmaster.

Near the bottom of many pages you will find a section entitled "Webmasters Tip" or "Webmasters Comment".  These contain unique, relevant and informative content - all written by the webmaster of this site - specifically for this site.

Finally, in order to keep this site as informative and relevant as possible to all visitors, much care is taken when providing links to other web sites.  Effort is made to keep advertising relevant and helpful to vistors and to provide only high quality links to related web content.

I hope you find this site helpful, informative, relevant and easy to understand.

Remember When?                      A Poem About Technology

A computer was something on TV
From a sci fi show of note.
A window was something you hated to clean
And ram was the cousin of goat.

Meg was the name of my girlfriend
And gig was a job for the nights.
Now they all mean different things
         And that really mega bytes.

         An application was for employment.
A program was a TV show.
         A curser used profanity.
         A keyboard was a piano.

Memory was something that you lost with age.
A CD was a bank account.
And if you had a 3 1/2" floppy
         You hoped nobody found out.

Compress was something you did to the garbage
Not something you did to a file.
And if you unzipped anything in public
You'd be in jail for a while.

Log on was adding wood to the fire.
Hard drive was a long trip on the road.
A mouse pad was where a mouse lived.
And a backup happened to your commode.

Cut you did with a pocket knife.
         Paste you did with glue.
         A web was a spider's home.
And a virus was the flu

I guess I'll stick to my pad and paper
And the memory in my head.
I hear nobody's been killed in a computer crash,
But when it happens they wish they were dead.
